SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- The 2026 Samcheok Rose Festival will open next week at the Samcheok Rose Park under the theme "The Birth of the Rose Kingdom," organizers said Thursday.

According to the city government, the weeklong festival will run from Tuesday through May 25, combining roses with a fantasy-themed storyline. The event is designed to allow visitors to experience an immersive event featuring rose fairies and the creation story of the fictional Rose Kingdom, the organizer said.

This year's festival will transform the entire park into a "Rose Kingdom," featuring interconnected performances, hands-on programs, food events, photo zones and parades designed to encourage longer stays.

Festival attractions will include a special stage, rose-themed career and craft programs, food zones, local goods booths and rose garden photo spots equipped with digital media displays such as cube-shaped LED installations.

A premium dining program titled "Rose Table," featuring regional ingredients and alcoholic beverages, will be held May 24. The festival's signature "Rose Kingdom Parade" will take place daily, with mini parades on weekdays and larger-scale parades and sing-along shows on weekends.

Performance programs will also be held throughout the festival. Singer Paul Kim will perform at the opening ceremony May 19, while the Republic of Korea Air Force's Black Eagles aerobatic team is scheduled to stage an air show May 23. Artists including Park Chang-geun, KyoungSeo and Rumble Fish will also perform during the event.

The festival will additionally offer wheelchair and stroller rentals, nursing rooms and reusable containers as part of efforts to improve visitor convenience and sustainability.
