SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) -- The Anheung Steamed Bread Festival held at Hoengseong, Gangwon Province will be held at Anheung-myeon Steamed Bread Village from October 7 to 9.

The festival will be held for the first time in three years since the outbreak of COVID-19.

This year's festival slogan is “Anheung Steamed Bread Festival with a burst of excitement.”

The slogan shows the hope of becoming an exciting festival to revitalize the citizens and tourists who are exhausted from COVID-19.

The Anheung Steamed Bread Festival Committee started preparing for the festival, which is facing its 14th year, in earnest, with more diverse and rich programs to satisfy the tourists.

In July, it plans to select a performance planning agent and recruit groups to participate in the performance program.

Anheung steamed bun is one of the eight major luxury goods in Hoengseong-gun and plays a role in the local economy.

In this village, there are 14 companies related to Anheung steamed bread, including 11 places for hand-made steamed buns and 3 places for machine-made steamed buns.

“As it will be held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, we will make sure to make it an exciting festival while carrying out the safety guidelines thoroughly,” an official from the festival committee said on Friday.
