SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung was set to meet with the chairman of a major Japanese business association Friday and discuss ways to boost bilateral cooperation and exchanges between their countries.
Lee's upcoming meeting with Yoshinobu Tsutsui, chairman of the Japan Business Federation, comes as the Japanese businessman is visiting Seoul for the 33rd meeting between the federation and its South Korean counterpart, the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI).
During Friday's meeting, Lee plans to hear the outcome of the South Korea-Japan business meeting and call on the Japanese business sector to play a role in expanding economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Lee's office said.
The afternoon meeting will also be attended by Ryu Jin, FKI chairman, as well as Keiichi Iwata, chairman of Japan's Sumitomo Chemical, and Toshiaki Higashihara, executive chair of Hitachi, Cheong Wa Dae said.
