SEOUL, Oct. 20 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean won strengthened to hit the highest level in more than two years against the U.S. dollar Tuesday, aided by corporate dollar sales.
The won was quoted at 1,328.1 won per dollar at 3:30 p.m., up 2.2 won from the close of the previous stock trading session.
For a third straight session, the won marked the strongest level since Oct. 2, 2024.
The won advanced as local exporters continued to sell dollars, despite a broad strengthening of the U.S. currency.
Foreign investors sold a net 535.4 billion won (US$403 million) worth of local shares during the latest regular stock trading session, with the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index falling 3.73 percent to close at 5,552.74.
