SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean won gained slightly against the U.S. dollar Thursday, after the Federal Reserve left its key policy rate unchanged.
The won was quoted at 1,336.8 won per dollar at 3:30 p.m., up 0.9 won from the close of the previous stock trading session.
At one point in afternoon trading, the won strengthened to a high of 1,331.3 won per dollar.
Overnight, the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged, as expected, and traders have assessed that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's remarks stopped short of giving a clear stance on future monetary policy.
Foreign investors purchased a net 65.5 billion won (US$48.9 million) worth of local shares during the latest regular stock trading session, with the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index falling 1.24 percent to close at 5,937.66.
