SEOUL, April 30 (Yonhap) -- Andong Confucian Land is expected to change into a Metaverse Museum.
According to Andong city on the 30th, the Confucian Land was selected as the target for the 2022 regional linked advanced CT (Cultural Technology) demonstration project held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Korea Creative Content Agency every year.
This project aims to enhance the competitiveness of public cultural space contents including local museums by supporting the R&D (research and development) of advanced cultural technology.
In this project, with an investment of a total of 4.8 billion won, including 2.55 billion won from the government, organizations and businesses including Gyeongsangbukdo Creative Content Agency, 2Mb Game and MSGsquare will participate as a consortium.
Its main business includes the establishment of a metaverse environment, implementation of voice conversation interfaces, virtual influencers, realistic interactive contents, and LED media walls.
Once the content construction and pilot operation is completed by December 2023, it will begin operating for the public in 2024.
Opened in 2013, Confucian Land, a core facility of Andong Cultural Tourism Complex, is a theme park-type experience center with the theme of Confucian culture along with the five cardinal moral virtues of Confucianism (Humanity, justice, courtesy, wisdom, and fidelity).
An official from Andong city said, "We will prepare the Confucian land, which will become a museum of the future, thoroughly to attract tourism in South Korea beyond Andong."
