SEOUL, November 4 (Yonhap) -- A famous Thai actress was reportedly in Itaewon, Seoul, on the day the stampede happened. She, who survived without any injuries, visited the mourning altar, and expressed condolences through her social media account as well.
Thai actress Wannarot Sonthichai (33) uploaded a photo on her Instagram on November 1 of her showing condolence at the mourning altar in Seoul City Hall.
Posting a picture of a white flower, she said, "My condolences to you and your family. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort #RIP #Itaewon."
Wannarot, better known as "Vill," is a popular Thai actress who has starred in dramas and movies such as "The Charming Step Mom" and "Take Me Home," and has 1.95 million Instagram followers. Fans continue to post comments in memory of the victims of the Itaewon tragedy.
156 people were killed during the Iteawon stampede that happened on October 29. There were 26 foreign victims, including one Thai woman.
The dead body of Natthicha (27) is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 4.
The funeral will be held at a mosque in Phetchabun, her hometown.
It was reported that the parents of the victim were struggling to prepare money for the transportation of the deceased, however, the South Korean government announced that they would support the family.
The South Korean government will financially compensate 15 million KRW for funeral services and 20 million KRW ($14,000) for additional support, equal as the Korean victims.
