◇ Music and film industry join national mourning...New albums movies delayed and events canceled

Music industry has been canceling planned schedules one after another to offer condolences regarding the tragedy that happened in Itaewon on last Saturday.

EXO member Chen has delayed release of his third mini album "Last Scene," which was planned to be released on Monday.

Yong Jun-hyung, who was scheduled to release his first album in three years since leaving the boy group in 2019, has delayed the release of his mini album "LONER."

Simultaneously, concerts have been cancelled one-by-one after the news of Itaewon Stampede.

Trot concerts that were scheduled all over the area in the time of fall season including singer Jang Yoon-jeong's Jinju concert, Youngtak's Andong concert, and Hong Jin-young's Icheon Lotte premium outlet mini concert were canceled.

SM Ent. also canceled Halloween party of their artists, which was planned for Sunday afternoon.

Film industry has also been canceling and delaying events.

Romance movie "Ditto" starring Yeo Jin-goo and Cho Yi-hyun on Wednesday have canceled photo wall of VIP press conference, which was scheduled to open on Nov. 8.

Movies "Remember" and "Confession" canceled their stage greetings on Oct. 30, the day after the tragedy, and "Men of Plastic" starring Ma Dong-seok temporarily postponed the press conference planned on Oct. 31.

 


◇ Celebrities express condolence over Itaewon crush victims

Messages of condolence by celebrities have been continuing after the Halloween crowd crush, which killed more than 150 people.


Hong Seok-cheon, who has been running a restaurant in Itaewon, uploaded a post on his Instagram, "Pray for them. May everyone rest in peace."

Actress Kim Hye-soo organized and shared major headlines of articles such as "Most of the casualties are in their teens and 20s" and "Set up a missing person reception desk on the 3rd floor of the Hannam-dong Community Center," and also listed the contact information for reporting missing people.


Group Big Bang's G-Dragon posted a picture of a white cloud on his Instagram along with the hashtag "Pray for Itaewon."

Yoshiki of Japan's legendary rock band X Japan also wrote on his Twitter, "It is heartbreaking to hear about the tragedy in Korea," and "I am praying for the victims and their families."

Meanwhile, singer Lee Chan-won, paying tribute to the victims, did not sing at a local event and requested the audiences to understand it considering that it is a national mourning period but was verbally abused by an audience.
