SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- Singer-songwriter Song Si-hyun released his first new song in more than nine years, titled “Listen,” at noon on Thursday.

“‘Listen’ is a song I wrote and composed myself, containing all the musical and life wisdom I’ve gained through living,” Song said. “I hope listeners focus on the acoustic sound and real instrumentation.”

Song debuted in 1986 at the MBC Riverside Song Festival with “I Can’t Hate You,” and is widely known as the lyricist and composer of Lee Sun-hee’s hit songs “Always You” and “With a Big Laugh.”

He has also worked on original soundtracks for films such as “Toemarok,” “Youth” and “Marrying the Mafia,” as well as the drama “New Generation, Adults Don’t Know.”

Song began teaching at a university’s applied music department at age 26, balancing his music career with a professorship. After his fifth album, he transitioned into musical direction, staging more than 60 original musicals over 25 years.

His latest release comes more than nine years after his 2016 project, “Song Si-hyun’s Dreamlike World,” in which he released two to three songs each month.
