SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- K-pop queen BLACKPINK topped a key music chart in Japan with its first full-length Japanese album.

The Japanese version of BLACKPINK's first full-length album "THE ALBUM," which was released on Tuesday, topped Oricon's daily album chart on the first day of its release, according to YG Entertainment on Wednesday.

The album also topped the top album chart of Apple Music in Japan.

"THE ALBUM" released in Japan contains Japanese versions of tracks from BLACKPINK's first full-length album, which dropped last October.

Pre-released Japanese versions of the band's Korean songs, like "How You Like That" and "Lovesick Girls" have reached the top of major music charts in Japan including Line Music, AWA, and iTunes.

The four-piece act, which already sold more than 1.3 million copies of its first full-length album at the time of its release last year, become the first K-pop girl group to earn a million seller status.

BLACKPINK also debuted at No.2 with "The Album" on the Billboard main albums chart as well as U.K's official albums chart, which is the highest record for a K-pop girl group to have achieved.

"BLACKPINK the Movie," which will be released on Aug. 8, to commemorate BLACKPINK's fifth debut anniversary, was also showcased in more than 100 countries around the world on Wednesday.

The film will include unreleased interviews with the girl group's members and re-edited versions of songs from BLACKPINK's previous concerts.

The CGV theater in Yongsan I-Park Mall will hold special screens, such as Screen X and 4DX on Aug. 8 at 8:08 p.m., which is the debut anniversary date for BLACKPINK.

The tickets for this screening event, which will provide fans with light sticks that light up differently depending on BLACKPINK's songs, was sold out in 13 minutes after the reservation period began on July 29.
