According to data from the Korean Film Council’s box-office information system on Friday, the film drew about 24,000 moviegoers on Wednesday, taking 22.3 percent of the day’s ticket sales. Since its release on Sept. 24, it has attracted more than 2.33 million viewers.
Coming in second was the Japanese thriller “Exit No. 8,” which opened Tuesday and drew 16,000 viewers (14.8 percent). Based on a video game of the same name, the film follows a man trapped in a time loop, attempting to escape a maze-like subway corridor by completing missions.
Korean action comedy “Boss,” starring Cho Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Park Ji-hwan, ranked third with 14,000 viewers (11.7 percent), while director Park Chan-wook’s new film “No Other Choice” placed fourth with about 9,000 viewers (8.3 percent).
As of 9 a.m. Friday, “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” also topped the reservation charts with about 77,000 presold tickets (24.9 percent).
Second place went to comedy film “First Ride,” starring Kang Ha-neul, Kim Young-kwang, Cha Eun-woo, Kang Young-seok, and Han Sun-hwa, set for release on Oct. 29, with about 57,000 advance reservations.
“Exit No. 8” ranked third with 19,000 presales (6.4 percent) and was second among currently screening titles.
