SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) -- "She leaves her parent's house with a bag when Lee sang says 'Let's die together.' Three months after leaving Yi Sang, she writes her sadness in an essay and meets painter Kim Whanki. She might be afraid to fall in love with an artist again, but she takes his hand and become an art critic and painter. That is why I felt like Kim Hyang-an's life was art in itself."

Creative premiere musical " l'art reste," which depicts the life of Kim Hyang-an, known as the wife of two geniuses poet Yi Sang and painter Kim Whanki has opened at the Dream Art Center 2 in Daehak-ro, Seoul on Sept. 6.

Writer Kim Han-sol said, "She went beyond being just a wife of artists. She wrote when she met Yi Sang and painted when met Kim Whanki, eventually opening her private exhibition," during a press call held at the Dream Art Center on Friday.

The musical divides the character Kim Hyang-an into two: Hyang-an who lived as Kim Whanki's wife, and Dong-rim (real name of Kim Hyang-an) in his 20s, who was with poet Lee Sang.

Hyang-an and Dong-rim comfort each other whenever they face decisive moments in their lives.

Director of the movie Kim Eun-young said, "I think it is also a great courage for a person to look back and understand their past," adding, "Through their encounter,I wanted to convey a message that I understand myself in the past and support myself in the future.

She says it was a burden to transfer the lives of real people who made great achievements in Korean art history to the stage.

Writer Kim Han-sol said, "I studied a lot to make sure characters are not misunderstood by the play," adding, "In particular, I worked closely with the Ventilation Foundation, founded by Kim Hyang-an to commemorate artist Kim Hwan-ki, throughout the script work and made changes."

Actor Lim Chan-min, who plays young "Dong-lim" said, "There are still notes left when She lived as Kim Hyang-an, not much reference was left about Dong-lim" adding, "I acted imagining what kind of person would she have bee living with this kind of mindset in that era."

The actor, who also participated in the reading performance of the work in 2020, said, "As a person who loves performing, I was able to relate to Dong-rim's love towards art," adding, "Dong-rim, Kim Hyang-an is someone who lived momemnt like forever."

The work depicts the life of a person who loved artists and art through gentle acting and lyrical music.

Actor Lee Kyu-hyuk who plays artist Kim Hwan-ki, said, "It is a work that makes people re-think about the word beautiful again," adding, "There is no stimulating element, but I can explain this work with the word beautiful."

The show runs through Nov. 13.
