'Invitation to Millennium Forest' Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival opens on Sept. 2

SEOUL, August 13 (Yonhap) — Hamyang county announced on Saturday it will hold the “17th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival” in the Sangrim Park area for 10 days from Sept. 2.

It will be held with the theme of “Hi-Wild Ginseng! We support your youth.”

It consists of nine themes: Wild Ginseng Hall, Special Products Hall, Picnic Playground, Jerjat Street, Wild Ginseng Forest, Food for Longevity, Various Experience Booths, Night View Zone, and Post-Expo.

Various performances such as Rock Music Free Zone Performance, Wild Ginseng Hangawi Hanmadang, Hamyang Lovers Concert, and Sim Mani Madang Play will be performed throughout the festival.

Various experience events such as the Milky Way Starlight Walk, Healing Wild Ginseng Forest Experience, Wild Ginseng Digging Event, Simmani Market, including “Find the Golden Ginseng,” the highlight of the festival, will be prepared.

The national wild ginseng national whistle contest, the national drawing contest, and the national photo shoot contest will also be hosted.

A total of 26 companies, including farmers and agri-food processing companies, will participate to present various health foods produced in the clean areas of Mt.

Hamyang established this festival as a high-class post-expo festival worthy of its status as the host city of the “2021 Hamyang Sansamhang Aging Expo” and set up safety measures such as compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines to promote it as a safe festival.

Hamyang plans to receive final approval at the special general meeting of the Festival Committee on Aug. 18 as the detailed plan for the festival is decided.

An official from Hamyang said, "We will do our best to revitalize the local economy and raise the Hamyang brand value by holding a safe and fun festival."
