SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- The Hallyu Content Planning Task Force department from key news agency, Yonhap News Agency, and Victory Contents, a South Korean drama production company, announced to hold a contest in order to discover and promote new drama writers.

The purpose of the contest is to help writers--who have not given up on their dreams even in difficult times--by providing a stable workspace that allows them to continue their creative thinking and release high-quality works that can contribute to the revitalization of the Korean Wave.

This contest is targeted towards established writers who have experiences in drama writing but is not managed by an agency or don't have contracts with broadcasters and producers. The areas of recruitment includes mini drama series, one-act dramas and short-form dramas. The contest will be held from 9 a.m. on June 3rd to 5 p.m. on July 3rd, and the results will be announced in August.

The grand winner will secure 3 million won in prize money while the runner-ups will each be given 1 million won. The writers will sign an exclusive contract to work for the next three years, receive a fixed salary every month, and be financially supported when developing their individual works. Additionally, the winners will be provided an opportunity to work as a writer's assistant for an established drama writer team.

"Korean dramas are already dominating the global content market," Yonhap News Agency and Victory Contents said. "We are waiting for creative works suitable to be broadcast on overseas channels and various new media platforms."
