SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean striker Son Heung-min, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL), has been nominated for December 2021's EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.
The EPL announced seven candidates for the "Player of December for 2021" on Friday.
The South Korean played in five games in December last year and recorded four goals and one assist, leading the team to rise with three wins and two draws.
In particular, he scored four consecutive games during this period and was trusted by Antonio Conte, who took the helm in November last year.
Premier League Player of the Month is selected by combining fan votes and opinions from expert panels.
Son was previously selected as the Player of the Month three times: September 2016, April 2017, and October 2020.
In addition to Son Heung-min, the shortlist for the Player of the Month includes Joao Cancelo (MCI), James Maddison (LEI), Gabriel Martinelli (ARS), Mason Mount (CHE), Martin Odegaard (ARS), and Raheem Sterling (MCI).
The result is scheduled to be announced next week.
