SEOUL April 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean ballerina Kang Sue-jin has successfully signed to continue on with her role of art director of the Korean National Ballet, shortened as KNB for the fourth consecutive time in a row. Kang Sue-jin will be the first director to have served the title of artistic director of Korean National Ballet for the four consecutive times.
According to the Korean National Ballet on April 4, director Kang Sue-jin will start off her fourth term as the artistic director of the KNB starting on Wednesday and continue on with the title until 2026 for total of three years.
Kang Sue-jin who has been part of the principal dancers of Germany’s Stuttgart Ballet has been selected as the artistic director of KNB in 2014 as the seventh director of the crew and successfully continued on with her career through 2017 and 2020.
Director Kang has showcased experimental productions such as modern, and contemporary shows successfully expanding the potentials and uniqueness throughout the years.
Moreover, director have successfully engaged in the process of coming up with creative ballets, in order to provide education and support for up and coming choreographers, as a result, in order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the KNB, director Kang has showcased various creative pieces.
Artistic Director of Korean National Ballet, Kang Sue-jin has graduated from the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco in 1985 and was accepted to Stuttgart Ballet as the first Asian performer and performed as one of the principle dancers until 2015.
Throughout her process of working with the Stuttgart Ballet, Kang Sue-jin has managed to received a lot of recognition solidifying her grounds as world class ballerina.
In 1985 Kang Sue-jin has successfully won the grand prize, at Prix De Lausanne, in 1999, she received the grand prize from “Prix Benois de La Danse” which is considered as the Academy Awards of ballet, and more.
Director Kang Sue-jin will be hosting a press conference on Wednesday and present the future plans and visions of the KNB.
