SEOUL, August 8 (Yonhap) -- World-renowned pianist Dang Thai Son will be holding a concert in Korea.

Performance agency Mast Media announced on Wednesday that Dang Thai Son will hold a solo recital in Korea on August 21 at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center.

Recognized as "the most Chopin-like performer among current pianists," he will be playing his main repertoires, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, and Franck, in this performance.

In the first part, Ravel's masterpiece "Pavane for a Dead Princess," Debussy's "Image Book," Franck's "Prelude, Chorale and Fugue" and more will be presented.

In the second part, which consists only of Chopin's music, dance songs including "Polonaise," "Waltz," 'Mazurka," and "Tarantella"' will be performed.

Dang Thai Son, from Vietnam, became the first Asian to win the Chopin Piano Competition in 1980.

After winning the championship, he has performed with world-class orchestras including Orchestre de Paris, St-Petersburg Philharmonic, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal and the BBC Philharmonic.

"Chopin's Concertos," Dang's album, which was sold on Fryderyk Chopin Institute label, was sold over 10,000 copies.

Currently, he is a professor at Universite de Montreal, where he also taught Bruce Liu, winner of the Chopin Competition in 2021.
