SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- K-pop vocal group Brown Eyed Soul returned to the music scene Tuesday with the release of its fifth full-length album, “Soul Tricycle,” its agency Longplay Music said.
It marks the group’s first new album as a complete unit in six years, following the half album “It’ Soul Right” in 2019.
The new record contains 14 tracks, including eight new songs and six previously released numbers. The lead single, “Our Moments,” is a contemporary pop R&B track infused with 1990s sensibilities, highlighting the group’s harmonies and member Naul’s powerful ad-libs.
Other tracks include “Love Scat,” in the style of 1960s southern soul, and “Maybe You Are Like This,” reminiscent of 1970s soul rhythms. The music video for the title track features actor Ahn Jae-hong and rookie actress Kim Joo-won.
According to the agency, the album reflects the flow of Black music across decades, from 1960s southern soul and 1970s Philly soul to 1980s quiet storm and 1990s contemporary R&B. Mastering was completed in Japan to enhance the album’s quality.
To celebrate the release, the group will hold an exhibition at Sounds Hannam in Seoul on Sept. 26, showcasing past album materials and artwork since its debut in 2003. Brown Eyed Soul will also stage a year-end concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Dec. 24-25 and 27.
