SEOUL, April 19 (Yonhap) -- A museum that introduces the works of Lee Ufan, an artist famous for his abstract paintings with minimal brush strokes along with the beauty of blank spaces is opening in Arles, France.
According to the website of StudioLeeUfan and foreign medias such as the AFP on the 19th, the Lee Ufan Arles, a permanent exhibition center for Lee Ufan's paintings and sculptures has been accessible to the public in Hotel Vernon, located in the city of Arles from the 15th.
The private mansion was built between the 16th and 18th centuries. It was completed in cooperation with the famous Japanese architect, Tadao Ando. In the hotel, about 10 pieces of Lee Ufan's sculptures and installations, along with 30 paintings were unveiled.
Arles, where there were many remains from the Roman Empire, is also known as the place where Vincent van Gogh stayed and left various works including "Café Terrace at Night."
Exhibition spaces that solely introduce Lee Ufan's works are located in Naoshima Island and Busan, South Korea.
The "Lee Ufan Art Museum" was designed by Tadao Ando, and has been exhibiting the paintings and sculptures since the 1970s. "Space lee Ufan" in the Busan Museum of Art was designed by the artist himself and displays about 20 works in the rectangular building.

Born in Hanam, South Gyeongsang Province in 1936, Lee Ufan studied arts in the Seoul National University, College of Fine Arts, but has dropped out to do arts in Japan. Among the living artists in South Korea, his work costs the highest in the market. In August last year, his work called "East Winds," that was painted at 1984 was sold at Seoul Auction for 3.1 billion won.
