SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- The original drama series of Wavve, one of the largest Korean-owned video streaming platforms, will be hitting the small screens.
Wavve will be airing two of its best original drama series in partnership with Korean terrestrial and cable networks to secure an even wider audience.
The six-part comedy-drama “Desperate Mr.X,” starring veteran actor Kwon Sang-woo, will kick off this relay by putting two episodes on the air every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on MBC. The comedy-drama tells a story of a middle-aged man, who was an employee of a conglomerate, facing major life challenges, such as resignation, a crash of stocks, and a steep drop in housing prices.
“Weak Hero Class 1,” Wavve’s original drama series that was widely acclaimed in South Korea last year, will then follow by hitting the small screens every Friday at 11 p.m. on Channel S, starting from Feb. 17; all episodes will be aired over four weeks by having two episodes that was originally released online compacted into one.
Based on the popular Naver webtoon “Weak Hero” published in 2018, the drama depicts the story of Yeon Si-eun (Park Ji-hoon) -- a model student who ranks at the top of his school -- becoming friends with Ahn Su-ho (Choi Hyun-wook) and Oh Beom-seok (Hong Kyung), and fighting to eradicate school violence.
Hwang In-hwa, the head of Wavve’s D/L (Domestic Licensing) team, said, “Since these two drama series garnered so much attention and love in our streaming service last year, we expect to secure more touch points with TV viewers and create buzz, or even a boom among viewers to re-watch our pieces."
