WAVVE and Disney Plus showcases school related series, 'Weak Hero: class 1' and 'Revenge of Others'

SEOUL November (Yonhap) -- Young rising stars are showcased in various bloody action scenes throughout school related drama series by S.Korean over the top media WAVVE and Disney Plus.

Number of school related contents such as “Weak Hero: Class 1,” “Revenge of Others” and more has been showcased throughout the over the top services recently. Despite of the student in the teen related plot, due to violence, these contents have received rated of restricted.

“Weak Hero Class 1” which premiered through South Korean over the top service Wavve showcases story of Yeon Shi-eun, acted by Park Ji-hoon, which fights against school bullying with his friends, Ahn Soo-ho, acted by Choi Hyun-wook and Oh Beom-seok acted by Hong Kyung.

Director Han Jun-hee known for his production related to bullying within South Korean Military, “D.P.” participated in the production of “Weak Hero: Class 1” as a creator and upcoming director Yoo Soo-min has lead the production.

“Weak Hero: Class 1” deals with humanism, social accusation, humor to convey strong message to its viewers, therefore it leaves an impression that the series is like a teenager version of “D.P.”

Violence featured inside and outside of the school are somewhat a familiar subject, however, by using a fast pace story line, the drama intensifies the atmosphere. Well constructed action scenes provides viewers with catharsis

“It is a story of coming of age of three friends,” adding “Although the series received rating or restricted due to some of the gruesome scenes, it embodies stories which will be very relatable to everyone who is over 20, because they have all been to school.” stated director Yoo Soo-min.

Starting with the actor Park Ji-hoon, also known as a member of K-pop boy group Wanna One, actors Choi Hyun-wook and Hong Kyung who are the upcoming actors which managed to portray the rollercoaster like teenage emotions spot on throughout the series.

Actor Park Ji-hoon’s transformation from cute image he managed to accumulate throughout his years as an idol, to his role in “Weak Hero: Class 1” is one of the factors to look for throughout the series. Park Ji-hoon, acts out protagonist Yeon Shi-eun, who is somewhat soft but at the same time has determination, additionally he looks very callous, however he is very lonely on the inside.

Actor Choi Hyun-wook acts out protagonist An Soo-ho who is funny, his character adds refreshment throughout the series, moreover, Hong Kyung, acts out protagonist Oh Beom-seok, who starts off as an innocent protagonist, however he turns rogue and becomes an antagonist in the end.

Original series by Disney Plus, “Revenge of Others,” which is showcasing 2 episodes every week sinc November 9 is also a bloody school related series. Throughout the show, it not only showcases physical fight scenes but also gun fights.

“Revenge of Others” is about protagonist Ok Chan-mi, acted by actress Shin Ye-eun who is searching for the truth related to her twin brother’s sudden death and Ji Soo-heon, acted by actor Lomon, who revenges for other for money.

Ji Soo-hyun who is in suffering from brain tumor, becomes very violent due to his illness, therefore he showcases gruesome ways of revenge. For instance, Ji Soo-hyun cripples a male student who has been bullying other female students and rapes his lower classmates.

“Revenge of Others” feature numerous cliché factors such as, twin brother and sister, school violence, extreme outliers of wealth, brain tumor, amnesia and more, its unique action scenes and speedy development of storylines provide distinctiveness to the series.

“Revenge and high teen genre has very distinctive and polar opposite characteristics, however I have tried my best to show the harmony between the two,” adding “Although the heavy storylines strike throughout the series vigorously, viewers will be able to enjoy the young actor’s undisturbed innocence acted out by rising actors.” director Kim Yoo-jin introduced the series.
