SEOUL, June 28 (Yonhap) –- Gimcheon city, South Gyeongsang province has created additional facilities on the tourist-specialized street in Yeonhwaji, Gyodong, to provide attractions for fans and tourists who are looking for "Kim Ho-jung Sori-gil."
According to Gimcheon city on Monday, the city decorated the streets, alleys, public telephone booths, bus platforms, and street fences in purple, from Yeonhwaji to Gimcheon Arts High School where Kim Ho-jung attended.
This is because purple is the symbol of Kim Ho-jung’s fan cafe.
The city also made murals for Kim Ho-jung in temporary parking lots and installed a "Tvarotti Postbox" to send letters to Kim Ho-jung.
Previously, Gimcheon city had built the Kim Ho-jung Sori-gil in October 2021 and portrayed his life through storytelling, murals and sculptures.
The city explained that the tourist street was created by targeting fan clubs looking for the footsteps of Kim Ho-jung during his school days.
It is said that the number of visitors to restaurants and cafes near Yeonhwaji has increased by more than 40% on average compared to before and after the construction of Sori-gil.
Mayor Kim Choong-seop said, "We expect many tourists to visit the newly added Kim Ho-jung Sori-gil."
