SEOUL, August 24 (Yonhap) -- Girl group BLACKPINK's new song Pink Venom, released on August 19, was known to be listened to the most in the U.S., according to Spotify.
YG Entertainment analysed the usage statistics of Spotify for August 19 to 21, and announced that the U.S. was the country that listened to "Pink Venom" the most with 3,184, 510 streams.
Considering that the total number of Spotify streams of "Pink Venom" was 24,434,240 times during the period, about 11.9% were streamed in the United States only.
Even if the analyzed period was extended to about a month from July 25 to August 21, the U.S. was the country that listened to BLACKPINK's music the most. During this period, a total of 16,821,936 listeners listened to BLACKPINK's music, and 266,830 were U.S. listeners, accounting for 15.8%.
YG Entertainment said that this occasion helped them evaluate the mainstream marketability of BLACKPINK.
On August 23, BLACKPINK ranked second on Spotify's "Global Top Chart," with 571,687 streams. This is the first time in K-pop history that it has taken a step down since reaching the top of the chart for three consecutive days.
