SEOUL, June 20 (Yonhap) -- BLACKPINK's hit song “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has been streamed more than 500 million times on Spotify, the world's largest music platform.
According to YG Entertainment on Monday, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has surpassed 500 million streaming times on the same day.
It is the team's third record after “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That.” BLACKPINK has recorded a total of 23 songs which streamed billions on Spotify alone.
“BLACKPINK is the only K-pop girl group with 500 million streaming songs on the Spotify platform, where its influence is growing in the global music market,” said an official from YG.
“DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the title song of BLACKPINK's first mini-album “SQUARE UP,” released in June 2018, and is famous for its gun dance.
Immediately after its release, the song entered the Billboard's main single chart “Hot 100” at #55 and was loved worldwide, ranking the first in the world's most viewed K-pop music video in 2018.
This music video became the first K-pop group to reach 1 billion views, and has recently surpassed 1.8 billion views.
