SEOUL, August 22 (Yonhap) -- Mnet “Street Man Fighter,” which swept the country with dance craze last year, is returning as dance competition for male dancers.

Mnet held press conference for dance battle variety show “Street Man Fighter” (“S.M.F”) on Tuesday at STANFORD HOTEL SEOUL and introduced male crews who will compete to be the street dance king.

“S.M.F” is a male version of “S.W.F” (“Street Woman Fighter”) and whether it will lead to another dance sensation is receiving attention.

Chief Producer Kweon Young Chan who planned “S.M.F” after “S.W.F” said he came back with “S.M.F” to show charms of male dancers that are different from the woman dancers, saying, “It will be different and new fun things to see.”

He also said, “Male dancers have power, so their dances are certainly different from dances of female dancers,” adding, “If female dancers had jealously and greed regarding the survival side, loyalty and pride can be seen from male dancers.”

Producer Choi Jeong-nam, who directed the show, said “We added a setting of being back-up dancers to see more intense competition,” adding, “We also tried to depict friendship and solidarity between male crews during the survival.”

Producer Kim Na-yeon, who co-directed, said, “We opened YouTube channel to let the world know that S.Korean dancers are amazing,” adding, “Our goal is to make global fandom.”

8 teams will be on the show: BankTwoBrothers, EO-DDAE, Mbitious, YGX, 1MILLION, WeDemBoyz, JustJerk, PRIME KINGZ.

They will be only evaluated with their dance skills, excluding all the successful career titles such as award winning experiences and making choreographs for global artists.

Leaders of each crews who participated the press conference said they played for keeps and have grown thanks to the show.

Leader of WeDemBoyz, Bata said, “What the producers has given us as gift is intense line-up,” adding, “I thought just competing with them would be hard.”

Jay-rock from BankTwoBrothers said, “There were complications and hardships in each mission,” adding, “We grew as we completed each of them.”

Fight judges who evaluate dances of crew members are BoA, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk, and 2PM’s Jang Wooyoung.

BoA, who also participated as fight judge in “S.W.F,” said, “I described ‘S.W.F’ as spicy, but ‘S.M.F’ is like a icy with no laughter,” adding, “I hope powers of male dancers can be delivered to the fans.”

Jang Wooyung showed his affection saying, “Each team has their unique and clear dance genre,” adding, “Although the videos will be edited due to time, each moment was precious, wishing I could show the original stages even just for few hours.”

Eunhyuk said, “As a person who has loved dance for long times, I was happy to see the influences ‘S.W.F’ had on the public,” adding, “I hope many people love ‘S.M.F,’ and S.Korean dancers continue to receive lots of attention.”

“Street Man Fighter” will first air Tuesday at 10:20 p.m.
