SEOUL, Mar. 16 (Yonhap) – Pianist Cho Seong-jin (29)'s new album "The Handel Project" has topped the weekly chart of the Billboard Classic in the U.S.
According to Billboard on Thursday, Cho Seong-jin's recently released album "The Handel Project" has topped Billboard's classical album chart, "Traditional Classic Album."
The album, released last month by Cho Seong-jin on the world-renowned classical label Deutsche Grammophon (DG), is his sixth full-length album.
Unlike his previous works, which mainly dealt with classical and romantic music, Cho chose Handel's scores, one of the two major Baroque musicians, along with Bach. Among Handel's two harpsichord collections first published in London in 1720, it contains three of Cho's most cherished songs.
In a video conference with local media to commemorate the release of the new album early last month, Cho Seong-jin said, "I think I practiced the most in my life while preparing for this album."
Cho Seong-jin will be appearing on the variety show for the first time. He has already finished shooting tvN's popular entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block," hosted by Yu Jae-seok and Cho Sae-ho, and the episode will be broadcast this month.
In a trailer released on Wednesday, Cho Seong-jin said, "I didn't appear on entertainment shows so far because I'm not a funny person and I'm afraid I'll be a nuisance."
