SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- "Since it's my first mini album, I wanted to show more intense side of me. In terms of color, it would be red."

S. Korean singer Jo Yu-ri, who debuted as a solo artist last year, returned with more a mature appearance.

Jo said at a press conference held for the release of "Op.22 Y-Waltz : in Major" at YES 24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on June 2, "I tried to capture the moment of 22-year-old Jo Yu-ri."

The new album expresses the attitude of dealing with various moments of daily life with the word “Waltz.” The letter "Y” refers to the initial of the singer's English name and the word "Why.”

Jo explained, "We named the title of the album by using the meaning of waltz, a dance we dance when we are excited,” adding, "Starting with this album, I will continue the 'Jo Yu-ri 2022 Dances(translated)' series until the release of next album as well as the concert, which will be held at the end of the year."

The title song "Love Shhh!" is a breakup song that is expressed in the singer’s own way.

The song, which contains the message of loving and enjoying one’s life with excitement and confidence, is different from other typical breakup songs. It highlights the cheerful pop dance rhythm and confident vocals.

She said the “killing point(key point)” of the song is “wit."

"Shhh" means to be quiet, but it also means “Damn” in English. Breakup songs usually depict the story of "I can't forget you" and "Come back," but I wanted to show a cool side of me in a witty way."

Moreover, the album contains "Rolla Skates," which expresses the desire to enjoy every moment with a loved one, and "Opening," which was written and composed by Jo Yu-ri.

The singer, who sold more than 75,000 copies of sales with her first single last year, emphasized that she has more to show in the future.

Then, she said, "The title song 'Love Shhh!' contains a message to love oneself the most, and I want to be an artist who can recognize myself," adding, "My goal is to be an all-rounder (a person of wide-ranging skills)."

Jo showed off her friendships with IZ*ONE members who worked together.

The singer said, "The members contacted me earlier and promised to film a challenge video together,” adding, "I think there will be a text saying that they like the song once the album is released today."

Jo Yu-ri's new album will be released through diverse music platforms on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
