Yoon, Vietnam's new leader discuss bilateral ties over phone
SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- President Yoon Suk Yeol talked with Vietnam's new leader, To Lam, over the phone Tuesday to discuss ways of bolstering cooperation in the economy, technology, defense and other areas, Yoon's office said.
Yoon congratulated Lam on becoming Vietnam's president and general secretary of the Communist Party and expressed hope for strengthening "strategic cooperation" in various fields, including trade, investment, high-tech industry, infrastructure, security and defense, the office said.
Lam said he hopes to further advance the bilateral ties and expressed support for South Korea's efforts to promote peace on the Korean Peninsula, it noted.
