SEOUL, Nov. 24 (Yonhap) -- The government's website and application used to show mobile identification cards went down Friday, after a major system failure caused nationwide disruptions in public access to state-approved papers last week.

The mobile identification card website became inaccessible at 3:10 p.m., and its front page displayed a message notifying users of the service suspension.

The application of the mobile ID is also not functioning, according to officials.

The state-run Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. is known to be in charge of operating and managing the mobile identification card system.

The incident came after the government's administrative network underwent a major system failure on Nov. 17, disrupting public access to state-approved papers before being restored two days later.
