SEOUL, June 22 (Yonhap) --"The word 'Re' means 'again', right? As much as we’re coming back after a long time, it is an album filled with good songs that we prepared through a new mindset,” said BM.
The 4-member mixed group KARD came back for the fans around the world after a year and 10 months as the members finished their military service.
“While still bringing the Moombahton atmosphere that we had from the beginning, we also tried to show a more mature and a brighter side of KARD,” said KARD at the showcase commemorating the release of their fifth mini album “RE:” held at Yonsei University 100th anniversary memorial hall in Seoul.
They took their first steps in the music industry with the pre-debut single “OHNANA” in December 2016, and have shown their presence both at Korea and abroad through strong performances and a combination that is uncommon in the K-pop market.
Since the single “Way With Words” in August 2020, KARD has not been able to promote as a whole for a while due to J.Seph's military service.
This new album includes a total of six songs including the title song “Ring The Alarm,” “Break Down” which depicts the anguish between scarred lovers, the English song “Good Love” in the pop R&B genre, and the retro-sounding “Whip!”.
So-min and Ji-woo participated in writing or composing the lyrics for “Break Down,” while J.Seph participated for “Ring the Alarm,” “Break down,” and “Whip!” to enhance the perfection.
The Moombahton genre title song “Ring the Alarm” is perfect for summer with its bass and synthesiser sound, while conveying the the message, “Let's enjoy this new moment!”
“There were a lot of people who like it (Moombahton),” BM said. “If only artists like Bad Bunny is fine with it, we would love to collaborate with them.”
“Leaving home for a year and a half, I missed the members a lot,” said J.Seph who recently served in the military. “Now that I see the members, it really feels like I’m back home.”
KARD will also be holding a South American tour concert next month.
