SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- Lee Know, a 28-year-old member of K-pop boy group Stray Kids, is set to begin his mandatory military service in the first quarter of next year.

His agency, JYP Entertainment, said Thursday that Lee Know is scheduled to fulfill his military duty in the first quarter of 2027.

"He may be unable to participate in some of the schedules planned for the first quarter of next year, but he plans to meet with STAY, the group's official fandom, through various content releases and solo activities before his enlistment," the agency said.

JYP also asked fans for their understanding, saying, "We ask for the generous understanding of STAY members who may have been surprised by this sudden announcement." It added that further details that are difficult to disclose at this time would be provided in a separate notice.

The agency did not specify the form of military service Lee Know will undertake.

Born in 1998, Lee Know will turn 29 in 2027, when he is due to fulfill his mandatory military duty. He will be the first member of Stray Kids to begin military service.

Lee Know debuted with Stray Kids in 2018. The group has topped Billboard's main albums chart, the Billboard 200, for nine consecutive album releases, setting a record for the most No. 1 albums on the chart by any group in the 21st century.
