SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Yonhap) -- Foreign investors again turned to net sellers of Korean stocks last month after snapping seven months of sell-offs in August amid extended geopolitical risks and woes over artificial intelligence (AI) profitability, data showed Friday.
Offshore investors offloaded a net 19.11 trillion won (US$14.25 billion) worth of local stocks last month, compared with a net purchase of 344 billion won the previous month, according to the data from the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
Following their net selling in September, offshore investors owned 2,296 trillion won worth of local stocks, or 34.8 percent of total market capitalization.
By country, investors from the United Kingdom were the top sellers in September by selling a net 6.9 trillion won, followed by the United States with 3.9 trillion won of selling, the latest findings showed.
In the local bond market, foreign investors purchased a net 127 billion won worth of local debt last month.
Their holdings of Korean bonds stood at 322.9 trillion won as of end-September, accounting for 11.2 percent of listed bonds here, the FSS revealed.
