SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Monday, South Korea's military said.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch, without elaborating.
The latest launch came after the North fired one ballistic missile from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea on Oct. 3.
North Korean state media reported the following day that its leader Kim Jong-un oversaw the launch of an intermediate-range strategic missile as part of efforts to train missile troops operating the "hypersonic strategic weapon system."
