'Hi.5', 'How to Train Your Dragon' Clash Again in Theaters

SEOUL, June 13 (Yonhap) -- The Korean superhero film "Hi.5" and the Hollywood fantasy film "How to Train Your Dragon" are set to face off once again at the box office this weekend, continuing their showdown from last week.

 

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on Friday, "Hi.5", directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol, drew over 32,000 moviegoers the previous day, securing the top spot at the box office with a revenue share of 26.1 percent. Its cumulative audience has surpassed 1.27 million.

 

Although "Hi.5" dropped to second place last weekend behind "How to Train Your Dragon", it regained the top position on June 9, a weekday, and has held steady at number one since.

 

"How to Train Your Dragon" ranked second on the day with around 27,000 viewers (25.2 percent), pushing its total audience to approximately 650,000.

 

In third place was the occult film "Shinmyeong", created by the political YouTube channel Open Sympathy TV, inspired by former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s wife, Kim Keon-hee. It attracted about 17,000 viewers (14.7 percent), bringing its total audience to 460,000.

 

Tom Cruise's action film "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning" ("Mission: Impossible 8") came in fourth with roughly 15,000 viewers (12.9 percent).

 

As of 9 a.m. that day, "How to Train Your Dragon" was leading in advance ticket sales with a 29.3 percent reservation rate (about 67,000 reserved tickets), followed by "Hi.5" with 18.5 percent (around 42,000 tickets).
