(LEAD) SEOUL, August 22 (Yonhap) -- Girl group Blackpink’s “Pink Venom,” released on Aug. 19, topped the world’s biggest streaming platform Spotify’s “Top Song Global” chart for two days.
According to their agency YG Entertainment on Monday, “Pink Venom” recorded 6,710,743 streamings on the previous day, Aug. 21, and recorded 7,937,036 streamings on the first day of its release.
YG Entertainment said, “Although the number of streamings decreased, It has been played more than any songs released by female artists this year,” adding, “Blackpink is the first K-pop artist to top this chart for two days.”
Spotify chart draws attention as its results are reflected on tbe U.S. Billboard main single chart “Hot 100.”
“Pink Venom” also topped iTunes “Top Song” chart in 74 countries including U.S and U.K, topping the “Worldwide Song” chart for two days.
