SEOUL, April 25 (Yonhap) -- Due to the retro craze, traditional snacks enjoyed by grandfathers and grandmothers are becoming popular among the young.

Shinsegae International (031430) announced on the 25th that last year, 9 out 10 of the best-selling products in the lifestyle brand, JAJU, were Korean traditional snacks.

Dalgona, which sold more than 700,000 per year, took the first place.

The sales of Dalgona has increased even more after Netflix's popular series, "Squid Game."

The second most popular snack was the barley biscuits with over 500,000 sales every year, and was followed by Nurungji (Schorched Riche Chips) as the third place, and Oranda Snack as the fourth place.

Other than these snacks, gim-bugak (Fried seaweed paper coated with glutinous rice paste), puffed rice and tofu snacks are also popular.

The sales of the top 9 products exceeded 2.5 million.

JAJU analyzed that the snacks made with non-stimulating ingredients gained popularity as interest in health increased due to COVID-19 along with the retro craze.
