SEOUL, Sep. 29 (Yonhap) -- Ryu Hyun-jin (34) of Toronto Blue Jays has recorded 10 losses which is the most in a season since joining the major league in 2013. He still retains 13 victories. Until now, his most losses in a season was 9 with 5 wins in 2017.

Ryu first pitched for the home game against New York Yankees which took place at Rogers Center in Toronto Ontario Canada on the 29th (KST). He allowed 6 hits including a home-run during 4⅓ innings and lost 3 points. He caught 3 strikeouts and let 1 base on ball.

His era for the season marked worse; from 4.34 to 4.39.

Toronto lost against the Yankees by 2-7 making Ryu the losing pitcher.

The lefthander who was falling behind against Baltimore Orioles on Sep. 12 (2⅓ innings 8 hits and 7 runs) and against Minnesota Twins (2 innings 5 hits and 5 runs) took a 10-day break due to neck injury before climbing back on the mound.

But even in the first round out of 3 games against the Yankees, who is competing for AL wild card, Ryu failed to recover his ace title and was driven from the mound early.

Ryu having to climb down from the mound failing to make it 5 times for 3 consecutive games is in 2 years after once in August and September of 2019 when he was in Los Angeles Dodgers.

Although Ryu overcame first and second risks on the day, he allowed a solo home run to the Jerseys making their scores even and gave this season's 23rd home run.

The Jersey's batting set a new record for Ryu's most home runs in a season which was 22 in 2017.

But through the recent game, Ryu filled 164 innings for this season. He has filled the limit innings for 3 consecutive years.

Due to the rotation schedule, Ryu can pitch against Baltimore, the last game of the regular season. But there are possibilities that the team may not put him on the mound and close the season according to the result of the team's AL wild card competition.
