SEOUL, September 7 (Yonhap) -- "I thought I would be able to do well, but it was different when I actually tried singing it. The flow of the vocals and the structure of the top line have changed a lot. I am familiar with songs these days as I listen to them, but it was actually hard to express them as a performer."

Singer Kangta said, "When the choreographer showed me the dance, it seemed like the dance "these days," but when I danced it it became newtro, being mixed up with the 90s dance," and laughed during the press conference held online on Wednesday for his fourth album, "Eyes On You."

On September 7, 1996, 26 years ago, Kangta entered the music industry as the main vocalist of H.O.T., the representative of the first-generation idol group. H.O.T. enjoyed absolute popularity in the 1990s, as it became a synonym for a Korean idol group in itself to the extent that no modifier was needed.

He said, "I took some time communicating through music, and I feel bad for my fans who have been waiting for me." "I took private dance lessons because I might lack understanding of dance these days," he added.
The fourth album is the first full-length album in 17 years since Kangta's third album, "Persona," which was released in 2005.

The album consists of 10 tracks, including the title song "Eyes On You," with the same name as the album title, "Skip," featuring NCT's Tae-yong, "Bucket List," featuring the R&B and soul group Heritage, a lyrical autumn song, "The One," the 2022 version of Persona, "Persona 2022," and "Love Song" featuring rapper Paloalto.

Kangta said, "I made an effort to include different voices of mine and different ways of singing to show new music" and continued, "I didn't take long notes like I did before, but cut them so it sounded clear and trendy."

The title song, "Eyes On You", is an R&B song, with tense drum sounds combined with calm string sounds. It romantically expresses the feeling of happiness in time alone by implying that it is to dance together in a night view. He said, "It contains a beautiful melody that everyone can enjoy." and added, "I really wanted to try a performance, but the choreographer made a good choreography for me."

Kangta performed "Eyes On You" at the SM Town concert held on August 20, which was held face-to-face after five years.

He said, "It's been so long since I performed right in front of my fans" and continued, "I was so happy and nervous at the same time while performing the new song. I never thought that I would feel nervous, but the only thing I remember before getting on stage was feeling nervous. "
SM Entertainment's oldest generation, Kangta, and his junior, Tae-yong, collaborated on the song "Skip."

As soon as Tae-yong's name was mentioned, he said, "Tae-yong participated in making the rap. He was also talented at making the melody." He mentioned that he asked Tae-young about his opinion on becoming a top liner. I want to take this opportunity to thank Tae-yong. "

The side track "Persona 2022" is a self-made remake of the title song "Persona" from the third album. He humorously said, it is really rare for someone to remake their own album title song, but it was possible for him because 17 years had passed.

Kangta said, "I cried a lot while singing "Persona" in the 2005 version. It was the trend at that time to express your emotions, " "This time I tried to surpass my emotions and sing it in a plain way," and explained the difference.

Even after the disbandment of H.O.T in 2001, he has been active in music by making hits of his own songs, such as "Polaris," "My Life," "Last Summer," and "Memories" in the early 2000s. Then I wondered why he hadn't released a regular album for 17 years after his 3rd album in 2005.

Kangta answered, "There has been a time when I felt a burden to release an album because I had activities in China at the same time," adding, "There was also a burden of success after the album was released." But from now on, regardless of whether it succeeds or not, I thought I should give my fans the gift of communicating by music, as they have been with me for such a long time. "

"The most memorable moment?" It was when I first received my debut album. I still can't forget the moment I saw the CD with my voice and the turning over album book with my name even after 26 years."
