GONGJU, July 27 (Yonhap) -- Gongju City, located in South Chungcheong Province, announced on Tuesday that it has issued 700 sets of commemorative stamps to mark the 50th anniversary of the excavation of King Muryeong's tomb, which is listed as UNESCO World Heritage.
The issued stamp set, consists of 12 national treasures excavated from the royal tomb of King Muryeong, including the gold diadem ornaments that decorated the coffin of King Muryeong, King Muryeong's stone animal statue, the exterior of the royal tomb, and an emblem made to commemorate the King.
The price for a single stamp set is 5,300 won and is sold at the experience center in Gongju's Seokjangri Museum and a total of 20 sets can be purchased per individual.
"We will focus on promoting commemorative projects for the year of King Muryeong, including the construction of the King Muryeong statue and the celebration of the World Heritage," the Mayor of Gongju, Kim Jeong-seop said.
