SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- K-pop performances will be held in Kazakhstan to mark the "S. Korea - Kazakhstan Year of Mutual Culture Exchange.”
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that “Hello! K-pop Festa” will open at the Central Concert Hall in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan, on June 18th at 4 p.m. (local time), to mark the beginning of the year of mutual cultural exchange between the two countries.
Singer Baek Z Young, who sang OSTs for Korean dramas including “Secret Garden,” boy group Highlight, and girl group VIVIZ will take the stage on the 18th.
Ministry of Culture said the concert is receiving great attention as 2,420 seats were sold out in 3 hours of ticket sales.
Starting with the performance, the two countries will hold 12 cultural exchange events for two years.
Artist Park Dae-sung’s Korean exhibition will open at the National Museum of Kazakhstan from June 24th to August 14th and Jo Su-mi’s classic performance will be held at the Astana Opera in September.
Kazakhstan’s Astana Ballet will visit South Korea between July and December to perform.
An official from the Ministry of Culture said, “Kazakhstan, the heart of Central Asia was the center of the Silk Road connecting East and West,” adding, "We look forward to building a cultural Silk Road between the two countries.”
