SEOUL, June 19 (Yonhap) –-A puppet show planned and produced by the citizens of Chuncheon will be presented in October.
The Puppet Festival Chuncheon announced on Sunday that it will be holding a program called “Wow! Fantastic Playground,” where the citizens and audience will be making a puppet show together.
This is a content specialization project that was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Regional Culture and Development Agency in March, winning 100 million won from the government.
Accordingly, the Puppet Festival Chuncheon will begin its activities by forming four civic planning teams for residents of Sinsau-dong, which has a specialized puppet theater.
A team of about 10 to 20 people is formed, and a puppet show instructor will be assigned to suit the group's personality.
Additionally, by participating in the workshop from June to September, they will be taking part in the planning, story composition, doll making, practice, and demonstration part of the festival.
On October 29, they plan to hold a festival with various programs on the theme of puppetry, including movie premieres, puppet performances, exhibitions, and parades.
"The goal is to create a festival together in various parts of the city with citizens participating in the program,” said an official of the Puppet Festival Chuncheon. “Along with participation groups, doll kits will also be prepared so that visitors will be able to participate.”
