SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Forest Service announced on Thursday that it will be holding the 2022 Wood Culture Festival under the theme of "realizing carbon neutrality through the use of wood in daily life” at the Daegu Arboretum from June 18 to 19.

On the first day of the festival, participants will be able to touch and feel various events including “Knowing the real value of wood,” “Feeling the use of wood in daily life,” and “Healing with wood” to promote the use of wood in our daily life.

There will also be a “Musical Marriage Wedding,” which is made up of the stories of 5 couples, which have been chosen through the challenge and their story. Additionally, “Healing Heart Sympathy Story Show” with the theme of creating a happy family after COVID-19 will be performed.

On the second day, the “Daddy's Table” event will be held, where 20 families selected by the “I Love Wood” campaign will participate. Flat dumplings and tteokbokki will be made with domestic wooden cooking tools and Daegu regional specialties, and winners will be selected by the tasting procedure.

In order to purchase wood accessories or participate in the wood experience event, wood currency (carbon cube) must be used. Wood currency can be obtained by participating in challenges including the “Using wood = carbon neutral” quiz show operated at the event site.

“Wood makes our lives beautiful and convenient,” said Kim Yong-gwan, director of the Korea Forest Service. “We will cooperate with the citizens to create a carbon neutral world.”
