SEOUL, Feb. 16 (Yonhap) -- Changbin, a member of the South Korean hit boy band Stray Kids, has joined the long line of Korean celebrities to help the victims of the Turkey and Syria earthquakes. The multi-faceted member made a donation of 100 million won for aid, according to The Promise, a non-governmental organization for underdeveloped countries, Thursday.
Kim Dong-hoon, the executive director of The Promise, confirmed, “We hope that the donation of Stray Kids’ Changbin will expand the scope of what the field team can do for the victims. We plan to continue our relief support activities to help those who have been affected by the earthquakes to recover as soon as possible.”
The Promise stands as a non-profit organization that obtained special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC); the organization has been organizing and participating in various projects for those in need by providing education and hygienic water, as well as devising ways to increase income and recover from disaster damages.
The organization recently provided emergency relief to refugees from the Ukrainian war along with emergency food assistance for Myanmar residents who were affected by the coup. They also carried out emergency response activities for the damage caused by the forest fire in Gangwon Province in Korea, while organizing psychological support programs for the victims.
