SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean veteran actress Kim Hye-soo, who is known for her lead role in tvN’s hit period drama “Under the Queen’s Umbrella,” has joined the line of South Korean celebrities who are springing up to help the victims of the quakes in Turkey and Syria.

The actress, who has been named as UNICEF goodwill ambassador, donated KRW 100 million to the Korean Committee for UNICEF, for the sake of children who have been affected by the earthquakes.

Kim said, “My heart is broken whenever I think of the children who are affected by the earthquakes and are enduring every day in fear and turmoil,” adding, “I decided to donate in the hope that it may help those children in Turkey and Syria to get back to their normal daily lives as soon as possible.”

In order to reach out to those affected by the 7.8 magnitude quakes that hit southern Turkey and northern Syria hard, a long line of Korean celebrities have been joining to make donations, including actress Han Ji-min, NCT’s Doyoung, and singer MC Mong.
