SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Yonhap) -- A Seoul court on Tuesday issued a warrant for the formal arrest of a man accused of killing his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife who sought to annul their marriage.
The Seoul Eastern District Court issued the warrant for the man in his 20s after police placed him under emergency arrest Sunday for allegedly stabbing his mother-in-law to death at her home in eastern Seoul and kidnapping his wife.
The man was apprehended in Yangyang County, about 150 kilometers east of Seoul, while on the run, about seven hours after the attack.
The suspect has reportedly admitted to most of the charges but claimed the murder was not premeditated and he did not intend to harm his mother-in-law.
His wife had been preparing for an annulment of their marriage after earlier lodging a divorce suit.
Police suspect the crime may have been premeditated, noting that the man had waited near his wife's home for more than four hours.
